Abstract
Abstract
Intelligence and Security Organization of the country (SAVAK) was one of the organs formed during the Pahlavi period, modeling from western intelligence organizations, especially Mossad, and activated its offices in all regions of the country. Ilam was one of the areas where SAVAK started its extensive activities by establishing regular organizations and using advanced equipment. The current study uses a descriptive-analytical method and unpublished documents and interviews with experts and revolutionaries of the 1350s to find answers to these questions: What were the reasons for SAVAK's special attention to Ilam? What were the functions of SAVAK in this region? The findings indicate that Savak of Ilam has had multiple regional, national and international functions. On the one hand, SAVAK tried to suppress any activity against the Pahlavi regime by closely monitoring the activities of the people of Ilam and creating an atmosphere of terror, and b arresting, imprisoning and exiling many revolutionaries of Ilam, it put a lot of pressure on their families. On the other hand, due to the convenient geographical location of Ilam with the religious cities of Iraq, especially Najaf, it observed the location and activities of Imam Khomeini and sent its reports to the center. In addition, at the time when Israel was at war with the Arab countries, the Ilam Savak, in cooperation with Mossad, had set up an espionage base for the country, which was communicating the movements of the Arab countries in the region to Israel.
