Socio-cultural Factors Influencing the Fertility of Married Women (49-15) in Ilam City

Abstract

Many experts in the social sciences and especially demographers believe that population growth is the result of three major factors (migration, death, and fertility). These factors  are affected by the components of the social, economic, cultural ones. The purpose of this study is to explore the social and cultural factors influencing the fertility behaviour among women in Ilam. The population of the study has at least one married women aged 49-15 living in the city of Ilam. The sample size of 370 patients was determined based on Cochran formula, selected using cluster sampling method. Data gathering tool is questionnaire. Also, spss software was used for data analysis. The findings indicate that the explanatory power of the independent variables is equal to 0/546.The amount of (b) standardized coefficients equal to (0/270) for the variable "attitude about the use of contraception", Variable of "duration of marriage" (0/211), Variable of  "marriageable age"(0/232),Variable of  "age"(0/081) using  contraception (0/082), and finally "marital satisfaction" is equal to 0/063.The fourth variable is not significant at 95 and 99 percent, education, household income, sexual preference and fatalism that the stepwise model removed.
