The Impact of Culture Organizational on Organizational commitment (Case Study: Staff Working in Islamic Azad University of Ilam)

Abstract

Much like individuals, organizations have personalities and the personality framework of an organization is called organizational culture. Organizational commitment involves a deep belief in the goals and values of the organization and effort dedicated to reach these goals and objectives as well as a strong tendency towards the membership in the organization. This study has been carried out in order to evaluate the relationship between organizational culture and organizational commitment among the staff currently working in Islamic Azad University of Ilam. The method used is a descriptive survey one and regarding the objectives, this study is an applied and correlative one. The statistical sample of the study includes 110 people among the 152-person population of staff working in Islamic Azad University, which is calculated using the Cochran’s Formula and were selected through simple random sampling method. The data gathering tools in this study include Denison’s Organizational Culture Inventory (2000), which contains 36 questions, as well as Mayer and Allan’s Organizational Commitment Inventory (1990), which includes 24 questions. The stability of the questionnaires was confirmed by university professors and experts and their reliabilities were calculated using Cronbach’s Alpha Coefficient to be 0.931 and 0.861, respectively. In order to analyze the obtained data, descriptive and inferential statistics such as frequency, frequency percentage, accumulative frequency, mean, standard deviation, and Pearson’s correlative coefficient were used. Results obtained show that there is a significant relationship between organizational culture and organizational commitment.
