Investigating Attitude toward Veil and its Relation to Demographic Variables among Women 15 Years of Ilam

Abstract

In our Islamic society, the veil has been proposed as an important social and moral norms. Iranian society due to social and cultural changes, control changes in patterns of individual behavior and social values ​​and norms. As well as a normative model, veil covering controls the relations between men and women. This study was performed in 1395 aiming at determining the attitude of women of Ilam to veil and its relationship with demographic variables. The method used was survey and its statistical population includes all women 15 years and older living in the city of Ilam among whom 267 used Cochran formula with 0.04 fault, and were selected as the sample size. Multi-stage cluster sampling was used for sampling. Data collection was done by using a Glock and Stark questionnaire whose reliability was tested by calculating Cronbach's alpha for internal consistency of the items and using statistical software spss version 21 in order to find the relationship between the dependent variables. Also, Friedman test was used to determine the relationship between demographic variables and in order to test respondents' attitudes to hijab, t test was considered. Using credit validity, the research has also been confirmed by the judges.
Examining the findings of the beliefs, rules, consequences and treatment of the veiling of women indicate that there is a significant relationship between veil and the dimensions of marital status, economic status - social and age.
