Explore the relationship between public participation and rural development (Case Study: Sirvan and chardavol Counties)

Abstract

Today it is clear that participation in rural community has an important role to development achievement and it is clear that to move towards a dynamic and sustainable development that belongs to the people of today and future generations, People should have a sense of satisfaction from access to the benefits of development. In this study, using documents and fieldwork, the relationship between public participation and rural development in selected villages of Sirvan and Chardavol Counties of Ilam province in which 316 heads of households, in the 6 village of samples, were studied. To gather data and identify the status of participation in selected villages the questionnaire technique  was used and to achieve this goal, after preparing the questionnaire and assess its validity, the questionnaires were distributed among sample individuals, and the results were used to confirm or reject hypotheses. Gathered information has been analyzed in descriptive part by Excel software and in analytical part with use of analytic statistics (Mann-Whitney U and Wilcox on W) by SPSS software. Findings show that the component of traditional contributions – Social, of the total number of 6 index, nearly 5 index hadn’t a significant relationship with rural development, and in the participation in political affairs and involvement in the administration (of new partnerships aside from the one index, in all other indicators, significant relationship was observed with the development of rural of Sirvan and Chardavol counties.
