Abstract

Given the structural changes in society and the family, have the ways of socializing children changed? In this study, the methods of socializing children among parents with children aged 6 to 12 years of Ilam city have been studied. Qualitative research methods, data collection through interviews with 30 parents, and data analysis were performed through Maxqda software using a thematic method. Using the open coding step of 101 themes, 34 concepts were extracted that were categorized into four main categories including emotional, physical, religious, and moral education. Findings showed that children were socialized in different ways depending on the socioeconomic status of the parents. Parents with better socioeconomic status prioritized physical education for their children, and parents with lower socioeconomic status placed more emphasis on emotional upbringing. In this kind of families, there has been some kind of ignorance in the educational method and behavior of the children. Parents who had a better economic and social status were also less sensitive to neutrality, but parents with moderate or lower levels of social education had a positive attitude toward religious education. As a result of the research, it can be said that due to economic and social changes, child rearing has also undergone changes, but due to the lack of parental skills and the economic and social pressures of parents, they have adopted a more negative than positive approach to child rearing.
