Abstract

There have been many political, military, economic, social and cultural developments and events, in Ilam that require independent research among which is the rebellion of Ilam people in 1308 against the central government, which has so far been mentioned in books and oral histories, but has not yet been independently and systematically researched. Such a historical event needs a special analysis to analyze the insurrection from a variety of dimensions, including the causes of the insurrection, how it happened and its consequences. This descriptive-analytical research has been conducted using books, oral history, reputable internet sites and articles, and aims to answer the question of what were the reasons for the Ilam uprising and what were the reasons for its early failure? The results of this study show that people are not aware of the authority of the central government, the people of this region adhere to the revolts of the neighboring provinces, the provocation of the people by Gholam Reza Wali's remnants, the increase in taxation and how it was collected and so on. Government military assistance to suppress insurgents, cold weather, disenchantment of some tribes with the rebels, and resistance to the besieged forces in Wali Castle can be cited as reasons for the insurgency's failure.
