Abstract

Introduction: Security is a key issue in every social system and it has been prioritized in all countries. This concept has objective and subjective dimensions. The main goal of the current study has been to investigate the subjective one; i.e. the sense of security among students of Ilam and its relationship with some basic variables.
Materials and methods: The technique used was descriptive and of survey type. The population of the study involves all students who are studying at universities of Ilam among whom 384 persons were selected as the sample of the study by applying  Kokaran formula. In this study, sampling method  was multi-stage and to gather data, a researcher-made questionnaire has been used.
Findings: The findings demonstrate that 46.6 percent of the students have had an average of  feeling social security, 43.2 percent little and very little, and only 10 percent much or very much feeling. Multivariate analysis of variance implies that there is a significant relationship between gender, marital status, employment status, being native or non-native variables and some aspects of social security; however, no significant relationship was found between field of study, education degree and aspects of feeling security.
Conclusion: Considering the low level of social security feeling between students and its impact on their individual and social life, it is deemed essential for university system authorities to frame a plan to raise the degree of social security feeling between students.
