Analysis of the Position of Masabzan and Mehrjanqazaq States during the Abbasid Caliphate

Abstract

Masbazan and Mehrjanqazaq States were among the important states in the early centuries of Islam until the fifth century AD, and in terms of geographical location, social, economic, political, and religious were among important places of the Abbasid Caliphate. The current study seeks to find an answer for this question: "Which factors caused these two states, consistent with the geographical location of Ilam, have strategic and special place in the Abbasid Caliphate era? The results of this essay that has been conducted with descriptive- Analytical method, shows that in the early Islamic centuries one of the shortest roads of Iraq to the center and east of Iran Plateau crossed this area. Having suitable climate, thick forests, appropriate vegetation, being near to Baghdad and the cities of Najaf and Karbala, natural tourist attractions and high mountains, were the reasons for the importance of this region. These natural resources of two mentioned states caused to be the center of the opponents against Abbasid Caliphate for long times.
